Hi, I’m Robert Shankwitz.
Born and raised in Southern California. He learned to read at four and quickly decided, “Well, I know how to read. Now I never have to do that again,” --which is exactly what he told his mother. Ironically, after moving to Huntsville, AL, Robert found a profound love of words and began delving into writing poetry and short stories.
Robert attended college at Athens State University, graduating with a degree in Behavioral Science. Robert has spent much of his adult life in the retail and restaurant industries. However, he is a dreamer with a wild imagination. As such, he loves to explore various forms of art, writing, and wistful thought whenever his free time allows. He has worked with his mother, Vicki Shankwitz, and sister, Megan Pitts, on many of their projects through editing, storytelling, or creating maps of the magical worlds of SSSP Books

Ben Bear and His Adventures
Ben Bear is a young stuffed bear who lives in George’s Toy Store with Momma Bear. He is very curious and adventurous. He is eager to explore beyond his shelf despite his mother’s warning to stay put during the day. After the store closes, Ben gets permission to play, which leads to delightful and sometimes perilous adventures.

Ben Bear is Afraid of the Darkness
Ben Bear is a stuffed bear that lives in George’s Toy Store. Franklin is George’s grandson, who takes Ben home to celebrate his fifth birthday. Ben is left outside, and he soon feels scared. A black cat introduces him to the night and different light sources, so he is no longer afraid.
